Ombud council supporting the financial ombud schemes to bring financial fairness to the forefront

Jun 2, 2025

From 17 to 21 April 2025, the Ombud Council, collaborated with the financial ombud schemes to exhibit at the Rand Show. This collaboration made it possible for the National Financial Ombud (NFO), Pension Funds Adjudicator (OPFA), and the FAIS Ombud, to engage directly with the public on the importance of fair financial dispute resolution, and the benefits to approaching a financial ombud scheme if they have a complaint about their financial advisor, pension fund, bank, insurer or non-bank credit provider.

The financial ombud schemes took the opportunity to increase public awareness around the types of complaints they handle and highlight that the complaint resolution services of the schemes are free, independent and fair, without having to appoint attorneys.

At the exhibition stands, the members of public had a chance to ask questions, collect brochures, and better understand how to lodge a complaint if they have been treated unfairly by a financial services provider. The Rand Show initiative was part of the Ombud Council’s ongoing efforts to bring awareness to financial consumer rights and to promote the use of the financial ombud system and the ombud schemes that the Council regulates.
