The Ombud Council is pleased to confirm that the Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana, has appointed Advocate Dikeledi Chabedi as the acting Chairperson of the Ombud Council, with effect from 1 January 2023. Advocate Chabedi will fulfil this role until the appointment of a permanent Chairperson is finalised, which is expected to take place shortly.

Advocate Chabedi has to date been the Deputy Chairperson of the Ombud Council, and her appointment as acting Chairperson ensures continuity for the Ombud Council pending appointment of the permanent Chair. Advocate Chabedi takes over the Chairperson’s role from Ms Deanne Wood, who has been Chairperson of the Council since its establishment in late 2020.

The Ombud Council thanks Advocate Chabedi for agreeing to take on this role and wishes her well. We also take this opportunity to thank Ms Wood for the vital role she has played as our inaugural Chairperson.
